Ormos Taverna is next door to Tikla and with great views over the sea and delicious sea food. Tel: 0030 27210 73373.
Gialos Taverna, Sea front taverna, right on Ritsa Beach, next to the festival. Delicious food. Great for lunch and dinner. Tel: 0030 2721 073278.
Lela’s Taverna CLOSED THIS YEAR
Lola’s cafe is great for a healthy breakfast or a light lunch. Delicious home made cakes, pies and fruit juices. Just off the high street.
Palaia Kardamyli Restaurant. Located up the road towards old Kardamyli, this taverna has wonderful views over the town towards the sea and because of its height it always has a lovely breeze. Wonderful atmosphere in a pretty garden under the trees. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Delicious traditional Greek food. Tel 0030 2721075315. Ask for Marialena.
Tikla Restaurant, slightly more pricey with an imaginative haute cuisine menu owned by another Giorgos (who also owns the cocktail bar Aquarella). Great food, wine and setting.

Psaras Taverna. Good cheap taverna in a pretty garden overlooking the sea. Traditional Greek food. Tel. 0030 2721 073365
Pizza Manina. Delicious pizzas and very good value. At the start of the village on the right coming from Kalamata direction. Tel. 0030 2721 073433
Babis Handmade Souvlaki. The best gyros in town. Very well priced. Next door the Pizza Manina. No need to book.
There are many bars in Kardamyli but best for sunsets is Aquarella’s, on the sea-front and bang next door to Lela’s – wonderful cocktails and views over the sea. No need to book and always open. 1866, a bar down one of the side streets, has great atmosphere and beer. Psaltiras is an elegant wine bar on the high street with curated selections of wine for tasting and Kritamos at the end of the high street is good for cappuccinos, chilled drinks with mezes.
Further afield, Elli’s Taverna is in Aghios Nikolaos, a charming fishing village about 15 minutes down the coast from Kardamyli. Elli is a wonderful cook and charming host. Tel: 0030 698 3294889. Kitries is a pretty fishing port (20 minutes from Kardamyli on the road towards Kalamata), with two nice (pebble) beaches and two tavernas. Best taverna is Giorgos’ – Tel: 0030 2721 058370.
